Default Gasket Question?!?!

ive had my LG headers installed for a while now. when i installed them i used the stock GM gaskets, but since my car is an 01, i used the 01+ model gaskets.

while in BG for the cruise in, another member explained to me how i am using the wrong gaskets. he wasnt exactly sure why, but thats what his shop told him about his car.

anyways... i spoke with mike norris yest. about the situation. he said i should be running 97-00 gaskets, because there is a difference.

has anyone run into this problem, or heard of this? what gaskets are you guys running? for all you 01+ cars... are you using the older style?

any info would be great. im going to go ahead and switch them anyways, but would like to see what everyone has to say!

Just order gaskets for a 99 coupe. The hole are large round ports compared to the newer gaskets which have smaller oval holes. Either gasket is still bigger than the ports in the head, but the large round (older gasket) match up better to the headers. So either gasket will work as long as it don't leak. I have hear many use the newer one with no leaks, you should be OK as long as the don't leak, if they start then replace them with the older style.

Look at the 4th picture on this page and you will see the difference. The rounds mate better with the headers.

guys there is more to it then port dimentions. Notice the top gasket has that extra material up top? For those putting on LT's it doesn't matter, but to those who are adding 01+ manifolds, if you dont go w/ the 02 gaskets you'll have a huge exhaust leak. Exhaust gas passes through that part of the gasket and w/o the correct gasket it just vents to atmosphere.
