Problems starting
I was wondering if you guys have ran across this: Yesterday my 1999 C5 wouldn't crank. I tried for about 5 minutes and finally got it to start. Here are the symptoms:
1. When I first tried to crank, it wouldn't even turn over. Power was getting to the accessories, I heard the fuel pump turn on and then shut off, but the engine would not turn over. It was acting just like if you try to start the car with the clutch petal out instead of in.
2. After a minute or so, it would turn over and then start, but it would quickly die. this lasted about 4 or 5 times.
3. I waited a minute and it started and then was fine.
Following are the codes from the PCM:
P1631H
B2721H
B2723H
B1542H
U1160H
U1096H
U1064H
U1016H
some of these codes relate to the PassKey system. The only question is that all these events too place in the time of 5 minutes. Could pass key causes the engine to not crank, then crank but die right after it starts? Do you think it could be a fuel pressure issue? The car has 93,000 miles on it and it stock.
Thanks,
John
