1998 oil sensor question!

Default 1998 oil sensor question!

well i think my sensor is out it is reading 80 psi and 129 on the display
so i went to the dealer they said 185 to put it in. I have a new sensor so i think thats a fair price. is this a common problem with the 98's thansk jay

would this be the sensor also thats failed ?

yes, it's typical--oil pressure sending unit frequently goes out, replaced mine twice ('97). if you have minimal tools and mechanical know-how, it's easy to replace. sensor is located at the back of the motor toward the top--right on the firewall. have to remove the intake to reach it. sensor should cost about $40 if I remember correctly. try the local parts dealers (fred beans or fichtner).

From what I have heard they go out all the time. Mine crapped out a yeah and a half ago. I was going to spend the money to get a new one but why? If its going to burn out again to heck with it.

I'd replace it--you'd need to know if your oil pressure was too low.
