I have a problem and would like some advice. I have a 97 C5 M6. I had the recall done recently on the Column Lock. I believe the number was 04006B. Sometimes I get the "pullkey-wait 10 secs" followed by the "service column lock". This has happened twice since the recall was done, but fortunately after a couple or three trys, I was able to unlock it by attaching my battery charger to the battery (which had 12.85 volts) and putting the key in the "on" position. It unlocked on the third try. I have been told this probably relates to a grounding problem. The altenator puts out 14.5 volts and 14.53 under load. The battery shows 13.9 to 14.1 (running). The DIC shows about 7/10's lower than the battery at all times. It runs 12.9 to 13.5. I have no after market devices on the car.
If this is a ground problem--which one is it? I'm sure I don't have the first vette this has been a problem on, but finding someone w/ the knowledge to fix it at a reasonable price is like looking for a needle in a hay stack.
Thanks In Advance for you Help

The battery is about 6 months old (Optima Red Top). After more research from the manuels this morning, we have decided to check the contnunity in fuse block 25 on the passenger floor board. Also---there seems to be to two different grounding wires for the DIC along with the analog guage cluster. Will check those if I can find them.
I was told that Bill Curlee was very knowledgable in this area---hopefully he will chime in.
