Default paintign headers

I painted headers with duplicolor high temp paint

i used the High heat with ceramic to with about 4 coats total on each side
then i let it dry for 2 days and started it

I finished the paiinting on Saturday around noon

now when i start the car im getting smoke from the engine bay

on the can it says for maximum hardness bake at 300 for 2 hours and 450 for 1hour 30 minutes

i never did that

i just let them dry for a couple days

is running the car a bad idea?
or is the smoke just fumes coming off whilethey cure?

That paint, no matter what the can says about temp, is just going to burn right off!! It will hast a little while longer on the collector areas but, on the tubes,,,,,,ITS TOAST!

I did some Mustang ss headers with similar paint but I chose flat black and did bake it in the oven per directions. when I sold the car in Jan, 30,000 miles and five years later they looked just as they did when I installed them. The point being it's great to be single ,cause I feel sure none of you married guys could get within ten feet of your kitchen oven with a pair of freshly painted headers.

i have a live in GF but i run the house with an iron fist

I could have baked them but didnt try that

i figureed put them on the car after they were dry enough to hold and fire the SOB up

instant 600 degree bake

i was just concerned about the smoky fumes coming off of them
