I chose the BPP shifter because of its incredible range of adjustability. Other popular shifters include the Hurst and Ripper. You can check out my installation procedure at:
I went with the B&M Ripper. Why can not remember. Ordered thru LAPD.
Great mod to do and I think any of the name brands will yield good results. Besure to put the little Black plastic cap on the new unit or rattling will soon follow.

Thanks, Dave....Breathless performance is only a couple of miles away.
Questions: What is black silcone RTV and where can I buy it? What is teflon grease that you mentioned? In step 4.21 you talk about hex screws/washers...are they supplied or do I have to buy them? Lastly, where did you buy that killer shifter ****.
Thanks for all the help, Dave. I really appreciate it!

Thanks, RoJo.
B&M and BPP are the same price and BPP is right down the road. I hear horror stories of after market shifters that rattle. Is it just because of the black plastic cap???

Mike,
You can buy gasket-type RTV at any auto parts store. Many DYIers use grease at the shifter post ball/shifter socket interface. It wasn't mentioned in the instruction booklet from BPP, so I didn't use it. If you do use a grease, teflon grease is probably the most compatible with all plastics. Your auto parts store should have some available. (I have Slick 50 Teflon grease that I used for my 68 chassis).
The screws supplied by BPP were too long so I used the OEM screws (stainless steel can be a pain to cut).
B&M Ripper here. Bought from local Ramcharger's Store. No rattles & easy install. At first was hard going int 1st & rev, but has got much better after several months.

C6 from Fichtner Chevrolet. Exact same housing unit as the C5. Super easy install. Looks and feels great. My only issue is that it could be a little shorter... other than that, great shifter.

I heard that the C6 does not sit straight - angled a bit. What do you think. Also, will the C6 shift **** fit on the C5 shifter.
