TPI with bad idle (1981)
Hey guys I could use some help tuning this engine, if somebody could take some time?
1st off I got a 1985 TPI, no cold start injector, changed over to speed density (map sensor), and comp cam for tuned port motors, also Ford bosch injectors
She runs and drives ok, but realy choppy on cold start but not until I start backing out of garage, after I get her going forward a bit she seems fine then my idle starts surging up a little bit not to bad though. Im thinking vac leak or IAC motor, but it all worked when it was installed and where only talking 300 or 400 miles. Where should I look? Where should I be in terms of Fuel Pres.(w/Bosch Inj), TPS voltage, Base timing? and last will this set up run proplery with a 160* therm stat? any help would be great as I know this engine can run better

Are you throwing any codes?? Jumper pins "A" & "B" together on the ALDL plug under the dash on the drivers side and watch the check engine light flach. "flash ------- flash --flash would be a 12 code. There will be three of those in succession followed by codes and another series of 12 codes signaling the end of the codes.
Post the codes and maybe that will lead you to the error.
Have you ever conducted a "Minimum Idle Test??
