Default AMW Catch Can Installation

Aloha all, I am getting ready to install the AMW catxh can on my Mag equipped Z. I bought the can and aluminum mounting bracket from ECS. From what I had been reading, the aluminum bracket made for a painless installation on the LS6, but after getting the kit, I am perplexed with the exact method of mounting the bracket to the head. I have a couple of available bolt holes....all of which are blocked by the tensioner set-up.

Can anyone provide pics or more detailed info on how to install this AMW unit properly? Any help is appreciated.

Aloha, Dave

I don't know how much these pictures will help, but you can sort of see the bolt holes in the head in reference to the tensioner. I made my bracket out of .092" aluminum plate. By the way, SMOKIN' CAR!

Wow, that is quite a distance away from the location I was hoping to mount it in near the passenger side head. I just emailed chris at ECS and I think I may not have gotten the right bracket for mounting on the head. Mine looks just like the standard bracket from the AMW site seen here: AMW Website

Are you talking about the black bracket that is installed around the cans in their photos on their web site? If so there should be another bracket that goes with that one to mount to the front of the right head. They have them listed here on the site for $25. But they don't have a photo. I want to buy one of these myself but I want to see what their LS1/LS6 bracket looks like first. If you get another bracket please post a photo of it!

I used the black bracket, but used the homemade aluminum plate to push it out from behind the tensioner. There used to be a guy on LS1Tech that sold a nice looking billet bracket that worked pretty well, but he was out of them when I did mine, and I don't know if he made more of them or not.

I have tried to attach a picture of my Catch can. I used the outer top and bottom holes on the RH Head and also used the factory line from the PCV. It was the right length. I trimed the protective covering off where it snaps on and turned it to fit the top can connector. Other hose went from side of can to intake. Used all four of the clamps. I bought the bracket with the can.

Thanks guys....looks like I got my answer. CVETTE's pic shows what I suspected. I cannot mount it without that supplementary bracket. I'm emailing ECS now.....

I am also mounting mine right now. I shot photo's of the installation last night, but didn't see this question. Let me know if you still need information. The instructions are definitely lacking, took me a while to figure out how it went in (that's why I took the photo's).

I had mine attached close to the engine and still had oil in the intake. Last week I relocated it to the front frame rail. It gives the oil a chance to condense out in the cooler catch can and any oil residue in the lines will drain back into the can because it's lower than the intake. Heres' a pic just for a different perspective.

Mounted ahead of radiator

SS to rubber line is the PCV intake line.

Were you able to use the standard mounting bracket that goes around the can. And how much hose did you use. Seems like more than the 5 feet they give you

Never said I didn't like the location....just not where I intended to mount. Maybe you should read what I wrote instead of trying reading between the lines.

I have my AMW can and am going to install it this weeken .... hopefully.

I'm not sure where to mount it.

A forum member is mailing me a bracket to mount to the head. I am not sure it will work as I have AFR heads.....does anyone know??

I think the positioning IMQuicker is logically the best. And I have seen two other highly modified with SC cars with the cans located up front. I think better collection is obvious in this cooler/down line position. But it is a much more difficult to access location as well.
