I just installed new pads, rotors and SS brake lines on my friends C5. Is there anything I could have done to make the Check Engine Light come on? I don't recall it being on before and I am not sure if it is something I did.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ok I checked the codes maybe it has nothing to do with what I did.
The codes are
B0361 H C Actuator feedback circuit
P0161 H C ho2s heater performance
I do not know what they mean but it does not seem to have anything to do with Brakes, I just don't recall if the light was on before and I would hate to have it now on when I give it back.
I would clear the codes and see if they come back. The P0161 H C ho2s heater performance could be caused by a bad ground. The ground for that circuit is located in two places. One is on the drivers side of the block just aft of the engine mount. From there it goes to the chassis ground stud located on the frame rail, directly below the brake master cylinder. If you clean both of those grounds and still have the problem, you could have a bad O2 sensor or sensor wiring.

The Check Engine Light comes on for a reason; either legitimate or not. Mine came on a few weeks back and it was nothing more than a loose connection. It only cost me $30 at the dealer for their time. Of course I have a friendly/trust worthy service advisor. Oops, thought I would never say those words together in a single sentence.
