Default ECSTA MX Tire Pressure problem

I did something stupid the other day. I installed a set of ECSTA MX tires on my 2003 coupe not realizing that the tire pressure for the new tires was quite a bit higher(51 psi max) than the stock Goodyear Eagles. I am now getting constant tire over pressure warnings. I called the dealer and they said that there was no way to program for the new high and low pressures. Can anyone lead me in the right direction as to how to fix this problem? Please reply via email.

Chris

You don't want to run those tires at 51 PSI!! That is the maximum pressure they will handle!

Good results here running at 32 PSI cold.

Whoa dude, there's no way that tire should be run at 51psi....I had the same tires and ran 32 psi and raced at Watkins Glen at 30 psi no problems at all. The max denotation might be a "hot" pressure (and even that psi seems awful high), make sure to gauge pressure at cold temps to get an accurate reading.

I found 32 PSI to be the optimal pressure on the track during road racing HPDE events for tire wear, traction, etc. The tires will heat up and sometimes add another 7 PSI.

We a get post like this every few months. The 51 psi max means if you are there, the tire is just this side of bursting. It has no relation to the proper operating temperature, which is 30 psi +/- a few pounds for personal preference. So head on down to the right range of pressure, and enjoy those MX's which are a great value.

The only time my tires are anywhere near that high is during winter storage.
I pump up the pressure from my normal 31 psi to 50 to reduce the possibility of over winter flatspotting.

I think those tires are rated for a max speed around 155 mph. How fast are you driving?!?

Thanks for all the help. I was a bit confused because the tire dealer set the pressure at 45 which caused me to believe that was the proper setting. I have lowered the tire pressure to 30 cold.
