Can anyone help my friend out
He has a 2000 coupe and if he lets the car sit for 15 mins he has to take the battery cable off and re install before it starts??
he bought a new battery thinking that was the problem however it still does the same thing.
has anyone had this issue before
All help would be great!!
Your question might be better answered by posting the basic problem and symptoms, and not the makeshift solution.
Disconnecting/reconnecting the battery is apparently resetting something (that makes the difference), but what is the car doing or not doing to begin with is the question. What happens if he does leave it sit? The car apparently doesn't start, so...
I know this sounds a bit silly, but did your friend clean the battery terminals thoroughly? Having corrosion at the cable connectors could easily result in intermittent starts or starts after removing and installing the connector.
Heres what i get when i go to start the car
Once i open the door the lights on the mirror don't come on, put the key into the ignition and no door chime.
Turn the key to start it and nothing.
The following show on dic...reduce engine power, service tire system, check tire pressure, service vehicle soon.
I open the hood and start to unscrew pos terminal horn sounds, light under hood turns on, lights on mirror tune on, and door chimes.....car starts and runs fine.
Sits for half hour and the whole process starts again......pain
I get these DTC codes after i cleared U1000HC, U1064HC, U1160HC, U1176HC, U1064HC, U1096H, U1096H, U1064H, and U1016H.
I have cleaned the pos terminal will check neg after this is posted.
I have put in new battery since i thought that was the original problem.

I kind of had that problem until I cleaned the cables!
You have a loose connection or bad wire some where, The U series codes indicate that the modules lost power while they were on. Are you torqueing the battery cables in place with 11 ft/lbs of torque??
There is a battery ground near the battery. It looks like this:

Have you installed headers lately? Have you had the starter out/off lately? The battery positive cable may be either loose or have some corrosion at the starter end too. I'm thinking this due to the fact that you said that after you disconnect/connect the positive cable, things return to normal. The act of moving the cable is what I'm looking at here.
I'm like Bill here. The symptoms sound like an intermittent open circuit (poor connection) somewhere. HTH

This sentence would lead me to believe you may have a bad connection within the positive cable end.
Also, you should always remove the negative cable first before touching the positive. I know in this case, that's all you need to mess with to get it to work, but the fact the car comes alive when you do mess with the positive connection means the negative is obviously still connected to the battery.
thanks for all the help fellas. I have dis connected the neg wire still nothing. I have cleaned both ends of each cable. i have not put any headers in or messed with the starter.
