Default "cold sludge" ?

read this weekend that "you should run your car for 30 minutes whenever it is started to prevent cold sludge and acids from contaminating the oil". My problem is I live 6 miles from work and go home for lunch. Thats 10 minutes max on the road @ 45 to 50 MPH four times a day. The vette is my only means of transportation. Do I have anything to worry about?

Cold Sludge? I don't worry about it. Mobile 1 is great oil. From my understanding the sulphur componds in "regular" oil forms with the moisture from combustion by products and forms acid. This is is you don't drive enough to vaporize the water/condensate. ( I haven't drive my C5 much in below zero temps.) However with Mobile 1 I have not found this to be a problem. I just use the reco oil and give it time to warm up a bit,, (read 150 or so with gauge moving) before I use heavy throttle. But this is what I do with all my cars.

So just use the right oil and drive on. 99 Nassau Blue

Your DIC calculates the life of your oil based on factors like that. Your computer will probably tell you to change your oil more often than someone who cruises the highway, so just change the oil when the DIC tells you to.

If you can take it out once a week for a good 45 min drive, it would not hurt.
