Default Best Short Throw Shifter?

Who makes the best? Where to purchase? Ease of installation? Really concerned about possibility of slamming into 1st from 2nd instead of 3rd. Any shifter that makes this less likely?

Like the man said -- there will be lots of opinions on this question -- I like the Hurst shifter I put in -- no rattles -- easy install -- and I have had no problem missing shifts -- good luck

I just upgraded to the C6 shifter and I like that, but to be honest I was in a car over the weekend with the hurst shifter and boy that shifter feels so much more percise. It is harder to move, but you can bang the gears with it....

I am swapping out my C6 shifter in the fall for the hurst..

If you want a shifter with stiff/notchy shifts, get a Hurst. Otherwise, the C6 is a good compromise.

The BPP is the only short throw I know of that not only provides the snick-snick super-short shift pattern, but is configurable 16 ways for a perfect fit (any physique). It may not be the least expensive, but it is certainly among the best.
Keep in mind that for all aftermarket shifters, some attention to vibration dampening is recommended. During normal driving, most shifters are relatively silent. Once the revs climb, some drivetrain noise inevitably surfaces.

with Dave68 plus he has an excellent post on how to install. I should have checked the movement in the C6 before I purchased it. It is definitely shorter and smoother than stock.

If you go with the C6, Id use Jennings Chevrolet in Chicago or Fred Beans in PA for a good price. (200.00 for the shifter & ****) Dont forget to order the screw that is used with the C6 shifter **** or you will have to make a trip to the hardware store.

I went with the new B&M with no stops. It's extremely stiff, but provides an excellent feel and perfect shifts. Very short throw.

I even hacked an inch off the handle for a shorter throw (this makes it a little harder to shift due to the leverage loss).

It's almost 3 Inches shorter than the Stock shifter and the Throws are just about the same distance as the B&M Ripper I used to have..

Some Pics of the modification.
