You do better selling the car and getting one already setup with auto. I have had to talk people out of this with F-Bodys all the time. When you get done it will lose vaule and cost more then it is worth.
I'm not interested in selling my car. The amount of labor involved in tearing apart my engine (heads, cam, etc) plus the TT's along with everything else would be entirely too much work.
There were 2 or 3 forum members who recently converted their cars over to manuals and were trying to sell there automatic parts, try a search in the for sale section I know I saw some stuff there in the last month or 2.
You will still need the trans cooler lines and an auto radiator (unless you want to go with a separate cooler- recommended). I also have a 3.15 rear diff if needed.
I'm not ready for the swap (more to consider when my Exedy dies) I'm just trying to get a feel for what will be involved should I decide to do the conversion.
For the people who asked Why .. You reach a certain power point (around ~600 rwhp ) where the M6 starts to become a liability, especially when drag racing.

I agree Mark, at any horsepower if you are bracket racing it is a liability also. The reason I am thinking about doing it is I have owned two coupes with A4's. They are great bracket racing cars, I can over the season average close to .03-.07 of my dial in with these cars. But I always loved the FRC body style. I am at a point where I think the next vette I buy is going to be a keeper, (probably for my son, he is ten), then I may buy a C6 Z06 on the used market for myself. So I am thinking about getting the body style I really love and putting a little extra money in it to have my bracket racer. Just personal preference is all. I never buy a car with resale in mind anyway, just not the reason I buy cars. If you don't mind keep me updated, if I start the project before you I will do the same.

I was reading somewhere that there is company working on a 4L80E swap for these cars. I would strongly recommend waiting for that swap instead of using the 4L60E, even with the 65 parts inside, it is no where close to having the strength of a 4L80. They are damn near bulletproof when they are stock.
I also started a couple of threads on several forums about the new A6, and what would be involved. I really would love to have that tranny in an FRC. I know it may not be as consistant as the A4, but I would love screwing around with the paddle. (not while racing of course) DTE also builds I believe four different stage auto's. If anyone is interested I will post a link to these other threads/forums.

Just an idea for you.
Do you know the name of this company or have any other info on it?
