Install the sound/heat insulation kit that CrazyC5Cowboy sells. It is great stuff!

The original GY runflat tires are extremely noisy compared to a non runflat tire. I got rid of mine 6 months ago at 30K miles and the difference in the noise level was incredible. I bought Kumho ASX's. I love them for my long road trips.

Was my reaction to the road noise when I bought my C5. I bought some frost king and another sound insulation material and was trying to find time to do the install of it. But then I replaced the stock GoodYear EMTs with non-run flats and the difference was HUGE

Now I'm thinking that the sound insulation material is not needed

I know it is a sports car and all that, but it has too much road noise for a $50K vehicle. It would have only added a few pounds for GM to have put in some insulation a the factory. My Chevy truck has much less noise.

Default C5 road noise

After purchasing a used '04, I tried the tire swap to non run flats. A was a waste of $1100. Just finished insulating the rear compartment with Frost King and again, not an appreciable difference. Concrete highways make simple conversation with a passenger almost impossible. After 8 years driving an '84, I expected a better experience from a relatively new (22,000 miles) 2004 C5. My '84 vette is quieter at highway speeds. I have read the argument that this a sports car, but I would not purchase another C5.

I have read good things about Frost King. I plan on applying it on every inch of floorboard, trunk area, wheelwells, and the vertical part behind the seats that I can. I also agree the run crap are annoying and loud after an 800 mile trip to bowling green. Hopefully a set of Hankook Ventus Evo tires will help quiet it down.

If you are taking the interior apart anyway, and that is really easy, you would have MUCH better result installing Dynamat or something similar. More expensive than Frost but way better result.

That must be one incredible 84 you have, because that's the first ever comment I've heard like that. I drove a 2 year old 84 way back when and I remember the experience well. It kept me from even looking at another Vette for years. Rattletrap is the expression that best describes my experience.

Or a cheaper alternative, Ice Guard or Ice and water shield. Sold in the roofing dept at the local home depot for 1/4 of the cost. Used this method when I was playing with car stereos.
I was considering the Frost Shield for its thermal insulating capabilities as well as reducing road noise.
