Got car back, suspension pulls when i get on it. Whats wrong?
Ok for the past month my car has been getting H/C, headers, clutch, flywheel, pretty much everything you can possibly get done. When i finalyl got it back last night i noticed the supension sometimes pulls to the right when i get on it and sometimes when i turn. It's not a huge noticable ammount, but i can feel it kinda like accelerating in a fast FWD car.
The best way i can describe it is that is feels like the front sway bar is missing. Going around turns i notice a little more body roll too. It's been a month since i have driven the car so maybe the body roll is normal, but the way the car kind of torques when i press the gas doesnt seem right. Its even noticable in 5th and 6th gear. It's just when i accelerate, not even hard. I did have the DTE brace installed so maybe something in the suspension got messed up, to maybe thats what happens as a result of the DTE brace. Any ideas?
Sounds like something with the suppension is loose and you may need an alignment.
the other thing is cars normally pull slightly to the right. The crown on the road for rain water run off cause this slight pull to the right. Go find a level parking lot then repeat what makes your car pull one way. See if it still does this.
Well it did the same in the left lane of the freeway so i assume its something with the car. Do our rear ends need to be aligned? I assume they do since they are independent rears. I'm pretty sure he didnt align the car once he put hte DTE brace in. He said he removed the transmission and all the suspension (or most of it) to put in the brace and the clutch.
An alignment pull (excessive cross caster or cross camber in the front) will pull the car whether the car is coasting or accelerating, so I would rule out the alignment as your main problem, but your car may still be out of alignment. Is your steering wheel excessively crooked? I would definetley look at a loose suspension part first, they may have forgotten to tighten something up while installing your goodies.
Your car is not right and you need to go back and check for something loose, installed incorrectly or missing. The alignment is a good place to start but a good basic visual inspection is a must. EVERY C4 and C5 that I have ever driven handled much better than what your describing! Something is wrong some where.
Well I'll get the guy who did all the work to take a look at it then i'll get an alignment. The front alignment is fine. Could it be just the rear is out of alignment?
