It seems unless I am within 2 feet of my vet the signal to "Lock" the door will not work. Yet the signal to unlock the door seem to work avout 10 feet away. I replaced the battery, and it still is no different, so the question is what is going on....I am tired of replacing the FOB's
It could be something broken as connecticut mentioned.
I'm assuming you have done the "Resynchronizing Your Transmitter" and/or the "Matching Transmitter(s) To Your Vehicle" procedures found in the owner's manual.
Sometimes that will help by "resetting" the remote.
The only other thing you could try is if you have a good relationship with a GM dealer you might get them to check it out for you.
I have done all of the above, with no sucess. In Hawaii it is show me the money first. That is why this forum has saved my thousands!! VBig A L O H A
The factory FOB is a POS!! Sooner or later most of them have problems. About 2 1/2 years ago a swapped the factory setup for a Clifford security system.... no more FOB problems... it also unlocks the gas flap from the FOB....

You could have a bad Remote Function Actuator Module (RFA). For one function to work fine and not the other seems strange. Do you have more than one FOB and if so are both doing the same thing.

Thanks bill,
Yes it does it with both FOB. Do you know what my step is in resolving this nissue...
Check the DTC codes in the DIC and see if there are any for the RFA or BCM. If there are, post the codes here and clear them. Sometimes when a code is set in the BCM and in some other modules like the TAC, the module will not function properly until the code is cleared. Here is a good link to what is what in the code world.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I change the battery in my key fob and program it, it works fine. Now every few minutes the car honks and I am not touching the fob. I went out and programmed it with the key in the ignition same thing happens. I took the fob apart and made sure all the pieces are put back secure, still I have honking. I have done this with both key fobs and they both do the same thing. What am I missing???
