Just recently, I discovered that my key fob stopped locking and unlocking my C5's doors and hatch. I first figured the fob fell out of sync with the car, so I tried resyncing it. No joy. I tried a new battery. No joy. I tried my other fob. No joy. I tried reprogramming the fobs into the car. No joy.
I suspect the receiver is shot. The odd thing, it's the same receiver that the TPM uses. The TPM works fine. Do you think part of the receiver could have gone south on me?
What do folks think? Any ideas? Or should I expect to have to replace the receiver?

No joy, oops I mean jas,
Key remotes are very temperamental and sometimes there's no clear cut explanation.
My guess is the remotes are 6 years old and just from normal wear and tear need to be replaced.
If a vette buddy of yours has a passive design remote you could try to program his remote to your car.
Majority of the time when a member buys a new one his problem is solved.

Normally, I'd agree. But one of them has sat in a safe (with the car's title) for the last 6 years and hasn't ever been used. So it doesn't have any wear and tear. But it won't register with the car, either.
what year car? If you have a window valet remove it before programming fobs to car.
I hadn't heard this before. I do have a WV, and have also had problems getting 'both' remotes to synch correctly. One will work fine, but the other never 'holds' the synch. Now that I read your comment, I assume it has to do with the WV. What specifically does this do, and what is the 'right' to do it?

I've never heard of a receiver going "half" bad but I guess anything is possible.
It's possible the one in the safe could have a run down battery after 6 years. Take the new battery from the other remote and try it in your "safe" remote making sure you install it correctly. It's possible to install the battery upside down.
If you have a friend at a dealership you could stop by and get them to check it out.

Already done, and still no workie. And I made sure the battery was installed correctly. :-)
