Default shorty headers

Need advice for the best shorty headers. What kind of HP increase can be expected with shorty headers if I already have Haltrip Stinger and Magnaflow exhaust??

I recently put on a set of B&B shortys. They advertise min. 10rwhp I think. I have an A4 and can feel the difference in performance and the exhaust is more aggressive although not a whole lot louder. Seems like it deepened and has become more growley. This is with the Vortex and Corsa Pace Car cat back.

Many on here will jump on shortys and say they're useless but I have to disagree. PLUS in Kali it's pretty much the way you have to go. At around $1000 new, the B&B's are built quite well.... my .03 cents.....

Another vote for the Borla's whom also make the well known LGM Long Tube Headers for Lou Gigliotti Motorsports. Good Luck.

Ah yes, however I didn't pay $1000, got them from a member for $400. Also , the thread starter is in California and LT's aren't legal there........

The gain can be substantial if the combination is optimized.

As an example we delivered a car on Saturday that put down 420 RWHP / 400 RWT with shorties, AFR's, a very mild cam, Fast 90 and a Halltech Stinger.

It also meets all California smog regs and passed the sniffer numbers better than most stockers.

Amen brother.........A set of B&B stainless shortys is certainly no slouch product... A bit steep? new, but you'll see a used set once in awhile. And as stated above, they pass the sniffer test.........

Now just imagine what that setup would have made with a set of "real" headers!

The justification comes easily on the dyno and, more importantly, at the drag strip. All else being equal, the LT guy will "justify" the $$$ spent by handing you your a** in a race.

I bought a slightly used set of B&B's for my 97- they are really high quality units and the welds are incredible! all done from the inside of the tube\flange then ground to a nice fit and finish...I put on a set of Z06 catbacks and a haltech stinger intake on to compliment it all, though I have not had it dyno'd it feels and sound much better then before...the interior is not drowned out by loud exhaust tones and at WOT it really shows its stuff...I paid $300 for mine, and for a direct bolt on application- lower under hood temps, more aggressive sound and looks I say it was well worth it!

Shorty headers certainly have their place especially in venues where the use of other headers is illegal.

However, no one that opts for and uses long tube headers has any need to justify their expense. Their worth has well and long been proved both on the dyno and the drag strip.
