Default 97 Power Seat Problem

My driver side power seat has stopped working with the manual controls. The easy access feature and the memory feature still operate normally.
Has this happened to anyone else?

My experience has been that these switches do go bad when used enough. And it's not uncommon to many GM vehicles. Even though it's not an inexpensive switch, it is rather cheaply made. I have taken then apart and there isn't much that's servicable in them.
Changing out the switch on the other hand is not terribly difficult. It's easiest if you unplug the seat and remove it from the car to replace the switch. Shouldn't take more than about 30 minutes. I believe there is a tech-tip here on removing the seat and/or replacing this switch.
