Hi Everyone, I have ordered and have on the way a .551 lift cam from Crane for my '97 M6. Along with it, Ive ordered springs, retainers and valve stem locks per Crane's technical people. Also, I'm using their Double Row, Roller Timing Chain Set since it is a good time to replace it with new. My question is does anyone know of a website that depicts the installation procedure as I want to order the appropriate gaskets, seals, etc. The How To LS1 site only has information on a cam swap for the F1 and is in the process of having it for the C5 in the future. Any information/help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a link with "how to" for a head cam swap on a C5, it also lists part numbers for needed gaskets etc.
Just went through this. I took the LS1Howto and edited out some of the head stuff, added some of the f-body stuff and made my own. There are some good photo's of the spring installation using the Crane tool by someone here on the forum that goes by GMBlack3. Skoggin-Dickey has a cam change gasket set you can't go wrong with as well as all the other parts you need. I also went with ARP fasteners for the cam plate, cam sprocket and balancer. Make sure you order several extra oil pump o-rings as with the double chain there is a higher liklihood of pinching the o-ring. You should also get a new oil pump, the 97-00 pumps were marginal and known to fail without notice. This is the perfect opportunity to get rid of that issue before it happens. Any questions, let me know.
Which Crane cam, I just installed the VHP (made by Crane) with 216/224 .583 .583 115LSA. I am running the 1.8 Crane rockers, so my .551 is now .583
