Where are you guys finding this for around $30? The dealer near me wants $67. Are you going to Napa or some place like that?

Sender failed on my '98. Replaced it according the the instructions posted here. 2-3 hours first time. Another hour to take apart and reconnect the vacum hose that goes to the MAP sensor (forgot to do this the first time). Then another 2 hours to replace the new sensor with ANOTHER one after it failed on the 2nd start. 2nd replacement has been working about 3 months. Seems to have been a change in the sensor. The 2nd one I put in had an aluminum base vs a copper base on the original.

Replaced mine over a year ago with a PS-308 ($32.79) from RockAuto.com. It has an all brass body and it's made by Standard Motor Products. (They've been in the auto parts business well over 50 years.) No problems since.
BTW, I would really recommend using the correct torque when tightening. Many a good sensor (ECT, EOP, etc) has been ruined by over-tightening which usually distorts the body and causes internal damage or leakage. HTH

One tip I might add is to have a 27mm deep socket to remove the sensor. Of course, I didn't have one. By the time I realize this, of course it was too late to run to the store. There is very little room to remove the sensor with regular pliers. I couldn't put everything back together and leave my kids at home alone to run to the store. I managed to get it off with a pair of vice grips!

It's not that bad of a job. There were two difficult parts. 1: the hidden screw on the drivers side of the manifold was a pain to get out due to this bracket getting in the way. The other was trying to plug in this tiny little plactic hose into this fitting in the back of the manifold. The manifold has to be in place before you plug this short plastic piece back in place. Very, very tight place to try to put the piece back in the hole.

Take care!

Default Oil Pressure Switch (Add Us to the List)

My son's 1998 C5 OP switch just went out last week. He called the local Corvette shop and they wanted $336.20 to replace it. They also said that they would include an oil change in the price. However, he had just had a Mobil 1 oil change the week before. They said the oil change was necessary. I don't see why. If you use the procedure outlined here in the forums, there is no fuel or water leakage since you don't disconnect any lines.
Anyone got any input on this?
I am an old foreign car mechanic and my son is new to Corvettes.

Replaced mine a few weeks ago (99 with 161,000)
I followed the DYI -- do it yourself and save the install $$ - not hard to do.
You don't have to remove the manifold - just move it forward 6 inches.
The hardest part is getting the very small air tube set back into place (it controls your HVAC vents)
I ordered the GM part online.

The sensor on my 02 Z06 failed last week; analog pegged, HUD pegged, DIC 130 psi.

GM/AC Declo has a revised sensor, at least for the z06. Can't image why it would not be the same for a non z06 car. Don't have the part number available at the moment, but looking at both the old and new you will see the hole for oil collection at the bottom of the sensor a lot smaller than the old one. Don't know about the internals of the sensor.

You can do this swap yourself if you have a metric socket set and fuel line disconnect tool. Took me two hours to do it; I'm an accountant which explains that. Great thing about the LS engine, pull intake off with no coolant, oil, gaskets to deal with. What a diff as compared to the LT/L98 intakes.

I saw somewhere in this thread that a member was charged $300 for the swap by a dealership. Problably took the tech 45-60 minutes to do it.

The sensor on my '99 failed at about 3K miles. On mine the analog OPG went to 0 and all hell broke loose as far as warnings and alarms. I had it towed to the dealer and they repaired it under warranty. No more problems with it in the last 40K miles.

FYI...I was told there are two oil pressure sensors. One that feeds the dash and the other that will shut down the fuel system if the pressure drops too low.

I was also told then that they were replacing a lot of these. Sounds like they still are.
