I got offered a 226/236 .525/525 110 LSA cam for a great price. But I"m wondering if it may be a tad extreme for my car. It has a lower lift than alot of the others I was looking at...but I figured I'd ask you guys what ya thought. how streetable would this one be ?
My car is stock heads and I"ll be going with comp 918 springs. Stock headers with high flow cats and exhaust.
All I can say is 110 for the street. I have a 110 in my 91'Vette in a larger displacment motor(383ci) and its not very streetable. I definatly could not live with it on a daily basis. It will be worse on a small moter like the 349ci LS1. Go with a 224/228 or a 226/230 with a 114LSA or 116LSA with .570 to .580 lift. You will be alot happier driving it ever day. And it will make great power. Also the 110LSA kills low end torque(you loose cylinder pressure with the extra valve overlap) and will make the motor very peaky. Not good for street driving...
That's why I went with a 115 LSA when I selected mine. In reality, a cam is around $300-$400 dollars, so to save that little amount of money in trade for a car that will be a handful on the street is not worth it IMO. The Honda S2000 is a great little sports car that makes good power up top, but most of the complaints I see on it have to do with low end torque and stoplight driving.
a 110lsa in an A4 is very feasible these days- WITH SPEED DENSITY tuning. Based on LSA alone I would have no problems running this cam in your A4. However, the lift on this cam is weak so spend a few bucks more and get something like 230/238 .590 112lsa. Do you have any good LS1 pcm tuners around you live?

I'm running a 230/236 XE-R 112 lsa and it's very streetable even though we're still finishing the tune. Speed density tuning is the trick. ProStreet MotorSports did my H/C and tuning. Makes great power with tons of mid-range punch. I also run 11:1 compression.
You've rattled off the specs for the ASA cam, which is what I've got in the basement waiting to be installed.
The ASA gets no respect anywhere, but is really a lot better than the
"lift worshipers" give it credit for.
As has already been said - good tuning is MANDATORY with this cam.
I would also suggest that you look into a set of good headers if you go with the ASA. It's been widely reported that the cam really makes power when used with an extremely low pressure exhaust.

Yep its an ASA, someone offered it to me, but the other cam I was after came through. Have an MTI 221/221 .575/.575 112LSA on the way
I didnt want to go too extreme, because there are no good tuners closer than a two+ hour drive.
Driveability is in the tune not cam specs. I have a 232/238 110/110 and it behaves very nicely. My next cam is a 252/260 .650/.650 112 which is going to be a daily driver 346cid!
