Don't even think about buying anything "as seen on TV". They are poor in quality!

You know the guy knows it is crap, and there he is hawking voodoo. What a friggin hump. I will not watch it anymore, once you start pumping crap like the Tornado you have no boundaries. I hope Tornado paid him BIG money for his integrity.
I thought the same thing when I watched it.

Does anyone actually believe a modern fuel injected engine would be effected by the Tornado's swirl effect? It would just not happen.

The guys on Horsepower TV tested the "twister" while on the dyno and showed that it provided no added horsepower.

Actually the Hood Seal in this case lessens the HP because less air gets in. Now cut the holes at the right angle in the fog lamp shrouds and you got some serious HP....

I hear you can buy them in a set packaged with some drag reducing curb feelers. (Available in body matched colors, of course.)

You don't remember Terry Bradshaw touting some magic hair-growing formula? It must have worked on his palms!

in addition I would be worried about one comming apart and a cylinder saying yummie thanks for the candy, uhhhhhh I feel sick

not only would I not part with $70 for one, but if you come within 100 feet of my intake with one of those, you may not be leaving.

If they worked, don't you think GM would be installing them on their cars and trucks to help meet the EPA's mandates?

Devices like the "tornado" have been around since the 70s. Even back then they made little difference with the carbureted engines, but at least there was some technical rationale behind it (swirling the fuel/air mixture to get as much fuel droplets as possible to vaporize before entering the combustion chamber).

BUT, since 1985 all Vettes have been port fuel injected (a.k.a. a dry injection system). The throttle body and intake manifold of these systems has no fuel mixture at all, just air. The fuel is injected into the airstream immediately before getting to the intake valve.

Therefore, anything that modifies the air at the throttle body (like the Tornado) is just moving air around, and providing a restriction in the process. It can't improve anything in this kind of system, unless there's some more esoteric physics that I don't know of.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike
