Thanks for the response.

Looking at the pic, I am guessing the other two relays are likely for the windows. Is it possible that all of them are the exact same type of relay?

If this is the case, six to seven bucks in parts can substantially rebuild a very expensive module. Wow!

My driver door will unlock, but both my driver and passenger doors will not lock ( also passenger window will not go up or down, luckily it is up ). When I hit the buttons ( door lock/unlock or window up/down on the door) I hear each relay actuate, but that is it. If I can hear the relays actuate (click), is my problem likely the relays and not a lock/unlock actuator or window motor?

ptiller, if you wnant to go to the trouble, take the door module circut board out of the case and plug all the circut plugs back into it. Check pin1, there should be 12V there, if there is, use a shorting wire to connect pin#1 COM and pin#3 NO (normally open). This is what happens inside the solenoid if it's working correctly. The lock should open or close depending on which relay you are bypassing. If the lock works, that's proof there is no electrical connection inside the relay. Just compare the pictures above of the bottom of the relay to the bottom of the circut board to locate the proper pin locations to do this test.

The window relay is different and the large relay may have both the up and down window functions in it. I haven't had one of thes apart to examine it. If someone wants to send me an old module, i'll take it apart and see what the relay's electrical connections are.

Default question!:)

After i take off the door panels, all i have to do is just unscrew the door module and take off the plugs and file them right?

and before i take off the circuit plugs, should i disconnect my car battery or it doesn't matter?

to this thread... they are charging me $480 only one side at dealership

It a tought call. For safety (more to protect the module), I would disconnect the battery. It does not take that long. These modules were designed for lowest cost and not for hot swapping.

My 03 passenger door won't lock but will unlock, but I just bought it so the dealer will fix it. Great info though.

How does a newbie Vette owner and also Forum noooob "bookmark" or something similar, all these helpful threads for future reference?

Many thanks,
Phil

Again, give ole Gene at the Karshop a call. Gene, will be able to hook you up with a used newer part far cheaper than any other dealer.

just did this fix on my 01 Z06. Works perfect now. I ordered a few new relays per BINDYS post and replaced the old ones.

Thanks CF once again.

Mine is the exact opposite. My passenger door with not unlock with the power, but will lock. You can hear it try, but it sounds like it is just sticking. I'll probably have to remove the panel and see wtf is up but I have been too lazy

Same here on my 2003 Z06. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they replaced both the left and right door module under warranty

Alanh and bindy, you guys are da bomb, as they say!

Thanks so much for taking the time to document this. I just ordered by relays from Digi-Key, and hope to be able to rely on my locks once again.

Kudos to you!

Suggest you check your codes first to make sure you know what's wrong.
BTW sometimes mine stops working for a day and then starts up again. Some sort of gremlin.

If the relay contacts are burnt, then I'm pretty sure there won't be any codes. I don't see any codes thrown at all. At first, like most of us that have had these issues, the problem was intermittent. Unfortunately, I would venture to guess that as time goes on, your "gremlins" will probably reveal themselves as a worn out relay, too.

How can you tell by looking which relay is the unlocker and which is the locker?

My driver's door does not lock, and my passenger does not unlock. I ordered 4 new relays (2 as backups), but it sure would be nice to know which ones to replace, does that make sense?

I'd like to know what relays you ordered. According to an earlier posting, JSM1-12V-4 is needed.

I have the DCM circuit board from my 01 sitting in front of me right now, the number on the relays is JSM1E-12V-5-H15

I can't find out if these two numbers are interchangeable or not.
