Default harmonic balancer

I have a wobble in my balancer pulley.2000 vert.50000 mi. Is this a common problem?Sounds like it could be serious.I just changed the tensioner & belt and noticed the wobble. No vibration!

Default Balancer

Had mine replaced last year. THe GM tech said it was one of the most common problems in C5s. I had a squeel which we assumed was coming from the belts or tensioner. He showed me in spite of no vibration how it was wobbling under a light. I chose to go with a factory parts.

Don't ignore this.. Folks have lost entire motors over failed balancers.. Go aftermarket so you don't have to worry about it again.

The pulley coming apart, moving back toward the block, wiping out the front of the motor / oil pump, etc.

The steering rack is also about a bazillionth of an inch in front of it. The C6's were having problems with the bolts backing out, taking out the steering rack, spraying PS fluid everywhere. From what I read, the fix was a new balancer, bolt, steering rack and paint job on the car
