Replace underdrive pulley ??
I have a basically stock 01 C5 A4 with cats and no other mods. Want to just boost the HP a little more so I'm not embarrased by a Mustang at a light somewhere. I was going to take it to Norris Motors in Orlando - good reputation - and he was going to do some simple bolt-ons, induction, thermostat, wires and plugs and different underdrive pulley. Another mechanic told me that the underdrive pulley replacement puts additional stress on other motor components and that it's not worth the little addl horsepower - He recommends just the cold air induction unless I want to go to headers - is he right?

The underdrive pulley is a lot of money for minor payoff due to the amount of work required to get in there and get it off. I personally wouldn't take this on as a stand alone mod, but I did put on an ATI 10% underdrive when I did the cam. I would go with headers, cold air intake and ported throttle body and leave the under drive pulley for when you have a problem with the stock unit and need to replace it anyhow.
