Do your exhaust tips turn bronze after 75 to 100 miles? I have no cats and by the time I get to where I'm going, my tips look like crap. my 1st thread
Also, how much will high flow cats cut back on the aggressive sound??

Well, I have GHL Bullets, Dynatech headers, high flow cats, H/C, new intake, new injectors, etc., and an LS1Edit dynotune. My tips have not changed color. I don't know how loud it would be without cats, but I had run the GHLs for a season (with stock cats) before all my mods. I could not believe how loud the car got with the headers, high flow cats, and everything else. I love it, and no resonance at cruising speeds, but on either side of that, and especially at WOT, it is loud.

your tips are bronze because it's running rich, for some reason.
That is what I was thinking and am hoping a tune will correct some of the problem. Someone here posted on another thread that the heat was causing the change of color.
When I got my TPIS long tubes and Random Tech high flow cats and x-pipe, I asked the shop doing the work if I should get a tune. They said that while it would help some, it wasn't a necessity in light of the $450 price of a tune. I've never noticed any problems due to not getting a tune.

I also have TPIS LT ceramic headers, Random Tech 3" high flow cats and x-pipe. Use to have GHL Bullet exhuast. and a darn good dyno tune. Staight pipes now, which are too loud for street use.
I think the dyno tune is more important then any bolt ons and extreemly important to get the most out of all bolt ons.
No problems with the exhuast tips turning bronze, a little dark from the exhaust.
Isn't the bronzing of the tips do to heat on a non- stainless steel exhaust or running to rich an air / fuel mixture???
