we disconnected the steering shaft...took out the alternator...lifted the engine as high as we could...but the headers wont' go into place?? are we missing something???
With the steering linkage, altenator, coil packs, valve covers, and motor jacked up as high as it could go (with the other bolt completely off) it was a tight squeeze. I did also have to use a 2x3 to move the motor over towards the passangers side. It will go just gotta put some elbow on it and wege it in there.
But please before you go any further line up the holes (or put the headers on your head upside down to see if the holes line up. Dont make the same mistake I did by not checking the flange holes and assuming that kooks got it right.
you will throw a air pump code if you dont have hp tuners or equivelant tuning software to edit it out. It will show up around every 1- 2 weeks depending how much you drive it . . .. or it did with my ta until I edited it out. You can just delete the codes if you dont have the tuning software but it will keep coming back.

I have an 03 coupe A4. Recently purchased a set of Kook's and the fit and finish was perfect. No problems at all with the install - they went in fine and everything lined up perfect. Follow their directions. Did the job in my garage with the car up on stands. It does help to have some one down below to see where the collector is going as you slip them in from the top - some times a slight nudge is all it takes and they will drop right in. Also, don't tighten down any flange bolts until everything is lined up and the bolts started down stream on the other connections.
Just call them and get the right headers. They make them with and without the air tubes and there are differences in the location of the tubes depending on your model year.
vendor is willing to help
but hes saying he thinks it will pass aircare once the car is warm and the codes are deleted with the ls1 edit computer more opinions on that would be greatly appreciated....
will the car pass with these race headers...no exhaust gas recirculation connection???
how do you move the motor over a few inches to get the headers in...some people are saying 2x4 or whatever but how do i do that...unbolt both motor mount bolts??? and put the 2x4 where???
