Bicky if the new headers have no provision for the air tube, you have the race version which is air delete. If you are not using the cats or worried about inspection, you can remove all the air tubes and have your tuner shut off the codes via LS Edit. If you need all the parts intact you will need to re-order the proper headers.

I don't think it will pass.

I just completed my Kooks install yesterday.

To make a long story short...
The flange did NOT meet up with the holes on the head. After jacking up the motor and starting to get everything back together I realized that I had to jack up the motor again and pull the headers out. This set me back about 2-2.5 hours. I wound up making two of the holes bigger on the flange. I can only assume that all of the headers made in that batch are the same way. Its not bad enough that the headers took 6 weeks to get, or that I had to jack up the car to install them, or the fact that I paid good money for what I though was the best only to get half way through the install only to find out that they dont bolt up to the motor. Kooks will be getting a call from me when they open in the morning.

Bottom line.
Dont assume that the headers will fit your car. Match the stock manifold holes up to the new header holes and make sure they line them up before you go through all that trouble.

All the street legal kooks should be about the same. The differance is if your car is before or after 2000, where your air tube is located. It will take a little extra plumbing. Nothing that you cant do if your doing the headers yourself.

THEY ARE NOT THE SAME!!!!! Bicky You have AIR delete, (street/race header) you need to get the pipes that have the AIR tubes. Call them tomorrow and let them know they sent the wrong ones. The difference has nothing to do with your car, it's the headers.

There's no excuse for that.

With that said, my Melrose headers also required jacking the engine slightly.

I can't help you with getting them in, but I would HIGHLY recommend sending them back and getting the right ones. If you didn't have to worry about emissions, I'd say go for it.

You might become a pro at installing AND removing Kooks headers if you proceed.

They will fit ONLY IF THEY ARE C5 HEADERS post a picture maybe I can tell if you have the correct ones. I answered your other thread in case they are correct.

they are c5 headers...but they just don't have the exhaust gas recirculation and without these i won't pass the emission tests?? my car is ripped apart and in the shop...not close to completion and no car to drive..this is going to be quite the week ...

the vendor i ordered these headers from has communication problems...had nothing but problems with him...sending me the headers without the exhaust gas recirculation even thou i told him im ordering WITH cats so i can pass emissions so i need the headers that will pass aircare and i need ones that have all the connections..i don't want any lights staying on...thats when he said well you need o2 extensions..so i bought those...but he still decides on sending me the racing ones or wutever...guess they just can't listen have had nothing but problems with this one but im not posting any names...i need to see if he'll try to resolve this issue tomorrow morning

Hey,

Im from surrey bc too. You will pass aircare with the race headers as long as you have the cats no problem. I have removed my air system and it is very simple to do. If you want a hand or just some advice on the removal my email is slperformance@gmail.com. The air system is crap anyways , heavy and useless. Im looking for race headers if your looking to sell BTW.

PS: I removed my air system on my z06 and my old ws6 and my buddies SS with no problems . Kooks are great headers !!
