Default Emmissions question....

I know if I lean the A\F really REALLY lean I can pass emmissions. Now I know this is dangerous and not advisable however what is the best way to do this to make it just up to a sniffer facility?

It depends. The leaner a car runs, the higher is NOx emissions.
Not sure about the state of VA, but in California, we have a maximum about of NOx level a car can put out. If you go over, you fail.

Secondly, to lean out your car that much would require changing your software program. These cars are so smart, it may not even allow you to lean it out to an unsafe level.

Good Luck.

J style,

don't know if you had your emissions done recently, but you should be able to pass in VA as long as you don't have more than 2 "engine monitors" not ready if you have a 96-2000, or 2001 and up allow only 1 not ready. Basically the test is only done w/ the OBD. if that's all good, you'll pass. This is pretty recent; i think since may or so this year.

this is assuming you're not running so rich as to have constant black smoke going out the tailpipe!

i know that here in the chicagoland area that in cars 97 and up with OBDII systems, they only check to see if you have any engine codes with a scanner. No sniffers or anythign like that.
