C5 needs a push
My 2000 C5 has an occasional starting problem. A new battery made no difference. Usually it starts no problem, rotates fast and roars to life. Now every few days the engine won't rotate-absolutely nothing, except the lights work OK. To get it started, I put it in neutral and push the car 10 yards. Then it starts as normal, rotates fast and roars to life. This has been happening for 6 months, first once a month now almost every day. I've started it this way 40-50 times, when I can't get it to start by monkeying with the automatic gear lever from neutral to park several times. Is this a problem with the "Neutral gear switch" failing to make contact in Neutral or Park and if so why does pushing the car work (rocking the car does not appear to work).
