Default Hawk HP+ or HPS

Getting new pads.
Doing at least 8 track days per year.
Doing about the same number of hard canyon runs.
Car is a DD.........

Noise and dust don't mean squat.
Stopping means everything

I'm leaning towards the HP+ based on track side endorsements.
Anybody have any reason not to get these??

I need to order soon!!
Anybody know the best place to order from??

I used the HPS one weekend on the track, Wost pad I have ever used, stopping was moderate and dust was soo bad. Pad went down to less then 20% remaining after one track weekend.

Then I switched to Hawk HP+ ( dust again was very bad) stopping was better. One weekend on the track and pad was down to 50%.

If like you said stopping means everything, then I like the Stock Z06 pad far better for a "combination" of street, occational track or auto-x and spirited driving / braking then HPS or HP+.

Hawks racing pads, Blues, Blacks, HT#s, are excellent pads, high dust too. Hawks new race pad DT70 is said to have lower dust but excellent stopping power. Not a street pad.

If you decided to do more then two or three track weekends it is worth getting a racing pad and changing back and forth as part of your track prep: Change Pads, Change brake fluid, check or change rotors, change oil.

Good Race pads from Carbotech, XP9, XP10 or XP11, Wilwood H ( I use these) PFC-01s ( have used these too ) Hawk DT70.

Thanks for the advise. I was considering the Z06 pads but the consensus at the track was the HP+ was better. I guess differnent people get different results. Eventually I will wind up trying them all.
Not yet ready to do rotor/pad/tire/wheel swaps for the track.....

I hear that at the track all the time too. Get the HP+ pads. There are OK but they wont last you the season. maybe two weekends.

I have had lots of students in corvettes and othe cars. I always ask them what pads and brake fluid they have?? and when did they change them??

Come day two at lunch time they are bleeding brakes like crazy as brake fade was the word of the day.

most popular combination seems tobe Hawk HP+ with ATE superblue brake fluid. Which is a great combination. What they lacked was the DRM brake cooling ducts.

Brake fade will happen to the best of ppl when the brakes are over used and under cooled. Learning how to use less brake and more momenteum though a corner keeps speeds higher and preserves brake components.

My choice is Wilwood H or PFC-01s pads with Castrol SRF brake fluid and yes DRM cooling ducts.

Good Luck Howie

Hi Howard
I use Hawks HP+. If you decide to go with these, I can get you a great deal. Let me know. It might take a few weeks.

Believe it or not, I used Wagners from C.A.P along with their rotors and they stop pretty good. I had GM ceramics with Baers and the fade was miserable. Last weekend I made about 60 laps at Lime Rock standing on the brakes each lap at 130-ish and they felt very stable and predictable.
