Has anyone heard of them. My friend just had his ZO6 tuned there. He was told that he could get way more power out of his car then my friend had. Keep in mind that he already had a head & cam package done some place else. Look at this pic & tell me why this happened.
It looks to me like the ring land broke and the piston came apart. It usually happens when you spray too hard with too much timing causing pinging. Lots of carbon in there too. Must had had some blowby.
Do you have the name correct? Are you talking about the Corvette place in Westchester, PA (It has a slightly different name) or a Corvette place in Westchester County in N.Y. or yet some other place with Westchester in the name (there are at least 20 to 25 locations in the country with "Westchester" in their geographical location? You did not include any information where you are located in your profile or signature so a reader has no indication of where in the country you may be talking about. Please clarify. PS-a pic of the corresponding also might help you get a more educated guess as to what happened.
I talked to him several times up at Bear Mountain and called his shop once or twice. Nice guy, but he charged much much more than most people in the area. The Vette Doctors prices are much much better.
He called me once and told me be bought a better scanning tool than LS1 edit and could tune my car better then LS1 edit for almost $600.00. I had to pass. I havent heard anything bad about the guy, but when I called him for prices, he was priced far above TTP, then Vette Doctors, and Eastcoast Supercharges. I heard a lot of good about TTP and a couple bads, but not many. never heard anything bad about Vette Doctors or ECS.
I have work done on my car at Corvettes Of Westchester and they o good work. The car your showing the pic of the motor from was in the shop having work done on it at the same time and i was told it was there because the head gasket went bad because the first shop who i will not name here (However if you check the other posts from MasterVette you will see which shop he is refering to) that originally did the heads and cam used factory head gaskets and re-used the factory head bolts, instead of the hardened head studs and a better grade gasket. like it left Corvettes Of Westchester with. The use of the inferior parts was the cause of the head gasket leak and the piston probably had a hairline crack in it which could not be seen. the car was then taken back and driven by the owner for a couple of hundred miles before the piston let go. I believe the problem with the car was the poor quality parts originally used to assemble the car in the first place.
I had my car tuned at Corvettes of Westchester, in Sleepy Hollow, last month. With an oil change and 160 degree stat, the bill was about $750. Chuck and I spent about an hour driving in the car and tuning after he did what he could do in the shop. The car runs just great. I was getting some ping at WOT, and he tuned that out.
He makes the point that there is a difference between tuning on a dyno and tuning on the road. I have a Honker intake, and he says there is no way a fan in front of the car on a dyno can supply the same volume of air as the car can take at 80 on the road. AFR's are really important, as we all know, and he likes to make the adjustments on the road.
Made sense to me. I'm sure there are different opinions here.
