Default Tire Sensors?

This may sound like a real stupid questions, but is there anyway to tell if a Z06 wheel and tire has a tire sensor on it with mounting the wheel on the car or taking the tire off? Thanks

I am curious as to why you ask this question.

But a wheel sensor has a nut at the base of the valve stem to hold it in place..
A standard valve stem uses a rubber mount..

The tire and wheel in question can be tested using the on board TPS monitoring system.

activate the system tire training...
use a magnet to "learn" the sensor. If you get a beep, it has a sensor.

I would simply find a vette that has wheels that you know has sensors in it, and check for similarities. Maybe somebody could post up a close up.???? Either that or bolt one up to your vette and try to run the sensor recalibration. Probably wouldnt even have to be on the rotors..just real close assuming you have the TPS active on your vette.

Thanks guys,

Just got set of 04 polished Z06 wheels and tires for 01 coupe and not sure if original owner took out sensors..... I wanted to save the time and expense of having my sensors removed and install on new wheels.

I know I could just mount the new wheels, but I get home late and don't have jack at hand. Thanks again

ET hit the nail on the head (as ever), look for the metal nut. If you're not sure, try to program it. However, you don't need to mount the wheel, it just needs to be near the car. It'll take you less than a minute to check one and the others are probably the same, no?

Z06 wheels do not come with them so I would say no. Unless they were added to them as I did. The pictures above should help you identify without taking anything apart.

Thanks to all, I just check and I guess they do not have them. I guess I will have to use the sensors off my 01.
