why hide your VIN and for that matter, why do some people hide their license plate numbers, just curious.
Well if you are seriously asking. The vin can be used to make a key for your car. Slide the right person $50 bucks and wa la new key with the correct resistance code. The tag thing for several reasons there have been some insurance companies lurking at the race tracks and taking them down in case claims are made (Have not seen this in person, but it is going around) The other is if you say anything in a post that is let us say less then favorable by law officials how hard would it be to find your car, and or owner of said car to watch for further unlawful activity in person. Kinda common sense stuff, but post them up if you want to I'm sure there are many other good reasons. I know a key guy
You can pull the VIN from behind windshield. It’s not too secret.

Same thing got me reading through it, too.
Though you'd think we might be able to overwrite one of the error code readouts to what we want and then devise a way to trigger that if wanted. Ah well.
