If you order a part from GMPartsDirect.com.....two things....
1. Is it legit?
2. How long does it take to ship if I order a special order item?
Let me know if ya can....thanks a lot
Yes, they are legit. I've done about 6 orders with them and never had a problem.
I just ordered some "special order" items from them on 11/20 and got them last Fri, 12/2, so a couple weeks in my case.
I suppose it varies a lot depending on if/how GM stocks the particular item you're looking for.
Also, you have to absolutely be sure of the part number, as their return policy is very tuff. I have been dealing with Fred Beans instead and have found their prices to actually be better for the shipped part once it is all said and done. They also now have the parts catalog on the web making it much easier.
heh, shipping was a little ridiculous, but im still saving 150$ from what the dealer quoted me, lol.....
Dealerships need to be boycotted, ha
LOL, GM Parts direct is a dealership....out of NC or there'abouts as I recall. Used them from time to time, but don't expect your local GM dealership to honor the GMPD warranty without some convincing.
GM Parts Direct has several issues.
1) if you make a mistake with a part number, you eat it.
2) You can not talk to a human being.
3) There is no customer support.
4) Very high cost shipping charges.
I always use Gene Culley at Fred Beans, his prices and service are the best He is a supporting Forum Vendor. No blown out shipping charges.
I ordered Tire sensors on Friday after Thanksgiving ( black Friday ) and I had them Tuesday Morning. I, like many others here on the forum have been using his services for years. All you need to do is have the Vin# of your car when you call or email him, he takes care of the rest. He can also get parts for almost any car. Foreign or domestic. He is always available via phone.

I believe GMPartsdirect is actually a dealership and not some GM-type entity. I ordered from em and it turned out allright but the only way to contact them if problem arises is via e-mail whihc can be slow and ponderous.
... GMPartsDirect.com is independently owned and operated by Flow Chevrolet, LLC, an authorized independent reseller of General Motors Parts. This site is not owned or operated by General Motors Corporation.
I would agree I would order more from GMpartsdirect if it wasn't for the outrageous shipping cost.. BTW I emailed them and them that exact thing...Maybe if everyone would email them and let them know it, they might do something about it..

I did the same thing, Their reply was that the shipping is how they off-set either the cheap prices or their expenses. Bottom line.......If you are ordering a bunch of items, the shipping is going to minimize your savings.
Local dealer to me, cost +5 or 10% depending upon the size of the order and sometimes just plain cost. No shipping no sales tax.
Order from Gene before GMPD.
Get to know your local parts guy, they are your best resource.
My local dealer parts mgr is very cooperative and gives me prices near to what other vendors can. No shipping fees, but local sales tax can offset the savings there.
Otherwise, Fred Beans is best East of the Mississippi (shipping) and Ken Fichtner to the West.
