Default Header Selection

I have a 2002 Corvette LS1 with minor modifacations including Corsa Touring Exhaust and X Pipe. The car is street driven only. I would appreciate and reccommendations on what brand of headers to buy and why?

you can go with any long tube header, they all make about the same gains. If you want the most gains out of a header than the LG pros are your answer, but if 2-5hp is not a big deal, then go for a system that you can get the best deal on. I have the dynatech supermaxx system and i love it.

I love my KOOKS
I installed KOOKs and removed my cats and could tell a BIG difference in the power (especially on top)
I got mine at a GREAT price compared to some of the prices I'm seeing for the "top of the line" headers, and they look and fit great

Also might want to consider the QTP approach as well. Forum vendors will have what you need and they all seem to make quality products. I also prefer an all stainless system.

Look in the parts for sale section...most times you can find a nice used set and save a few $$...I just bought a (barely used) set of Kooks, and they are AWESOME looking...large diameter pipes baby!

as one post above mentioned...all of the MFG's will net you about the same HP...and the LG Pros will gain +\- 5 more...

Get what you can afford (I would say go with Stainless all the way) as the mild steal [even though coated] can rust after time...

install them and enjoy!

Can't go wrong with LG's, Kooks, or the Supermaxx.

"Stainless Works" here, we offer C5 headers in a few different configurations. You can get them in either 1.750" or 1.875" primary tubes sizes. You can get them as headers only with exhaust hook-ups for stock or after market exhaust. They can be had with a 3" off-road X-pipe & center section or with a 3" X-pipe & high flow cats. All feature hand TIG welded construction done right here in the USA using US 304-stainless steel mandrel bent tubes and .375" thick laser cut stainless steel flanges. Look us up on the web at www.stainlessworks.net or call us at 1-800-878-3635 for further details or contact your favorite retailer/speed shop.

Thanks,
Scott

I've been considering it for a while and I like LG. The question is cats or not?

Most likely going w/ these next spring due to Tri-Y design which has been indicated to have good low/midrange (i.e. usable) hp/TQ increases. Everybody has an opinion though.

For standard cubes, you cannot go wrong with the LG's, nor, the Dynatech Supermaxx's. However, for bigger cubed engines (383cc+), the Kooks are the way to go.
