Default The squeak is gone/Burnout time!

I just finished putting on Goodyear belts on from Auto Zone. You guys were correct about the belts. I fired it up and it is so quiet. I also serviced my K&N air filter. I didn't realize how dirty it was. Well I decided since I just spent about 1 hour working on the Corvette that I might as well take it for a spin. It seems to run so much better! I bought the Corvette back in September(99 6 speed coupe) and the K&N was dirty then. So I decided to celebrate and do my first official burnout. I was going 20 MPH in 1st gear with T/C off and floored it. I couldn't beleive it, the revs went right to 6 grand with wheels spinning then I shifted to 2nd and started getting wheel hop. This is true world class power in an American made Chevrolet. I cannot wait for my Z51 C6 6 speed in a couple of years.

Great job on getting your ride fixed up, BUT;

Many, many folks on this forum have exploded the rear differential with even a modest amount of wheel hop. Heck, couple of guys broke the diff's while wheel hopping in the rain.

The point is the diff's in our cars are realtively fragile, and the forces induced by wheel hop can destroy them, so make sure you let off at the first sign.

Mine wheel hopped tonight when I punched it in 1st @ 15mph. I let of as soon as it started. The car is bone stock, so what gives? Is it because it's cold as sin outside or is the stock run-flats doing that? How do you fix it?

Yes, I let off as soon as the wheel hop started. I am guessing the wheel hop is caused by the tires. I have the F1 runflats with the zip tie mod and fog light screens removed. Otherwise bone stock.
