Default Lifter orientation HELP SOON PLEASE!!

I'm almost ready to fire up my new C5R 427 that I installed in my vette today. But I was reviewing everything in the "How to build a performance LS1" book and it mentions that the lifter need to be orientated correctly. Can the lifters be orientated 180 degrees out and cause a problem? I didn't really pay too much attention to this because I noticed with the first lifter the oil hole would be facing either forward or aft and the oil galley hole covers either of those areas. And the cam/head swap directions all over the internet never mention that there is a certain orientation, as long as the lifter trays fit over the ends of the lifters. I'm hoping they mentioned it because they are using Jesel solid rollers. I am actually using the stock LS6 lifters (wanted the quietness, I didn't like the comp lifters on other motors). Please let me know if I have a problem. I want to fire this thing up tomorrow (12/24).

Thank you!!!
Derrick

Clip from a 99 manual

Important
When using the valve lifters again, install the lifters to their original locations.

If camshaft replacement is required, the valve lifters must also be replaced.

Lubricate the valve lifters and engine block valve lifter bores with clean engine oil.
Insert the valve lifters into the lifter guides. Align the flat area on the top of the lifter with the flat area in the lifter guide bore. Push the lifter completely into the guide bore.

Oil hole orientation shouldn't matter with the stock lifters. I have read of only one performance lifter where this is taken into account (and I believe it was solid, but don't remember where I read this but it may be the same book to which you refer). There are several threads on this subject on LS1Tech.com if you want to do a search there to feel better about this, so I would say you are good to go.

with solid lifters,if they are not in right you will end up with 0 oil pressure.it seems to be a problem with solids.so far, from what i've read there areonly 2 brands that do not suffer from this problem.if you reach out to andy at a&a he can help you.

Default My mind is at EASE

Thanks,
I started the motor this morning, but it had no oil pressure for about 10 seconds, so I shut her down. Thought I blew the welsh plug at the front of the oil galley, but after tearing apart the front, the plug was just fine. I then cranked her over with the starter and she built up oil pressure. I guess I just needed to have her run another 2-3 seconds before the pressure built up. I thought I had the whole block primed (had oil out the lifters) when I primed her by hand before starting, but I guess it still needed some more. So back to reassembly and to get her running better (need a LS1 edit file for the new combo to get me close).
