Please see signature for current mods and best 1/4 times. What additional mods could squeeze a bit more out of a internally stock '98 LS1? I don't want to go to heads/cam, forced induction, or nitrous (yet!). I want to stay with the 3.42 gears and 2600 stall. I want to keep the stock cats. Some ideas:

LS6 or FAST intake
"High Lift" rocker arms
Larger throttle body

Thanks in advance for Forum inputs.

The LS6 intake would be a good choice. From what I've read, the benefits of the LSX Fast Intake are NOT realized unless you have more cubes or a head/cam setup. The LS6 intake should give you a lbump in power.

Not sure if you have one already but what about a Transgo shift kit. I hear they are fun and would match up well with your converter/gears setup.

An LS6 intake might help you pick up 1/10 or 1 MPH in the 1/4, but, that's about it with your combo.

Personally, I'd leave it alone until you're ready to go fast.

Get an S2 ported throttlebody, it's worth it just for the better throttle response alone.

The LS6 intake is a very easy DIY, and fairly inexpensive. Not a huge gain, but enough that it counts, and opens up for other things. If you are talking about a Fast 78mm, that's cool, but you might as well stay with the LS6. If you are talking about a 90mm setup, that would be over the top.

Doing the rockers is almost as good as a cam, but if you are anywhere considering a cam, I would go that route instead. Either way this is a little more expensive, but a real upgrade that can be felt. If you do the rockers at a higher ratio, you need to do the springs also. I would go with a set of hardened pushrods while you are in there. I suggest: Crane 1.8s (1.82)
Comp 918 valve springs
Comp hardened pushrods

If you have to do something (and I know the feeling) just do the LS6 intake for now, and think about a head/cam down the road.

Not an expert, just my $.02... Good Luck!

Personally, I think you should step up the gears a bit. Nothing will give you more SOTP bump, and you since you have drag radials, you can keep 1st planted. Move up to 3.73s.
