Default Anyone using a HeatShield?

Does anyone have the Koolmat Heatmaster Shield that I saw on Corvette Garage (here )installed?
Or are there any other ones?

If so, does it really work and reduce heat inside the seating area? Thanks!

I think you'd be better off getting a tunnel plate instead. Does the same thing and also stiffens the body for about the same price i believe.

I have a coated Alum. tunnel plate and on the inside, the console wrapped with an aerospace thermal material made of corrugated SS sheet with ceramic insulation in the middle (got this from a co. that makes jet engine thermal blankets). I have no heat coming through.

I have both and based on cost and the additional benefit of the tunnel plate, if I had to have one it would be the abs-of-aliminum. I have not installed it yet, so I cant say for sure about the added stiffness. Others have given it good reviews.

The heatmaster cool shield works great to reduce heat, I plan on putting both in, for added heat prevention plus the stiffness.

Both are good products, but as i said the tunnel plate is less money and adds some stifness. I would do this first, and then add the heatshield if not happy with the results. i know I did it the ooposite way but the tunnel plate was not avaiable when I bought the heatshield

I believe that you would get the best results from the coated ABS of steel or ABS of aluminum and add some Frost king in the foot wells and tunnel! With just the Frost King, I got a significan improvement in heat rejection!!

Nikolai,

I use both a tunnel plate and the Thermo-Tec tunnel shield:

The tunnel plate is good for increased chassis stiffness. The Thermo-Tec tunnel shield really reduced the temperature of the tunnel, and hence the interior of the car.

my low buck and fast alternative was to pull back the carpet on the trans tunnel, and place in a layer of that alum. foil and plastic bubble material. Lower the temp well. Also lifted the carpet behind seat backs, and installed the black foam which is foil backed, used to insulate residential HVAC ducting, really cut the noise from the tires.

All for about $50 and two hours effort.

The ceramic coating on the tunnel plates does a very good job of heat rejection and ,as stated, adds to the chassis stiffness as well. Tunnel plate for me works well.
