Default Battery charging

My 2004 C5 has been sitting for awhile. When I started it yesterday the starter wanted to drag a little but she fired up. I thought I would get a battery tender for the cold months. I bought a Schumacher 1.5 amp float automatic charger. Today when I hooked it up it went to charge for a little while and then to "trouble". I disconnected it and tried again same thing. I then hooked it to my suburban and it worked fine. Is the C5 battery charge too low for this charger and causing it to overload? Should I try my bigger charger to bring the battery back up and then us the maintenance charger, or should I look for some other problem?

Which battery you have? I would charge it first before putting the tender on it. The tender isn't a charger.

Default Charger

It's the original Delco (no leaks yet). I'm thinking it needs a better charge then the tender.

Let the car idle for 15 minuets then put the tender on. I think the tender plus has a 1 amp charge rate. The green light blinks at an 80% charge. The green Light will stay on when in a maintain mode.
