I didn't check it before. But now there is about 2 fingers between the tires and the body before I could almost fit my hand in there. I would imgaine about a 1 1/2 inchs :chevy
I lowered my F45 using longer rear bolts I bought from A&A Engines. The front was lowered with the stock bolts turning them untl flush with bushing. I did not cut any of the bushings.
I have Z06 Chrome reproduction wheels with the F1 supercar tires which are already about 1/2 inch lower than stock tires. I believe my lowering effort netted me and additional 13/16 on the front and 1 3/16 on the rear.
I first had the car lowered to 26 1/2 all the way around but the ride felt as if I was carrying a ton of bricks in the back.
I raised the rear to provide a better stance and it turned out well. I believe I now feel the changes in the F45 setting working in all three modes where as before I cannot say I felt any changes.
I've lowered a couple...no problems. Be advised that there is a limited amount of room accessing the front adjuster bolts due to the "sensor" protruding from the front shocks. :chevy
Why did you buy the bolts. My car is lowered with no cutting anything or the longer bolts. My car even seems lower then yours chucschramm. The Z51 and Z06 are the only ones that need the longer bolts or cutting of the bushing unless your going to slam it. Here is some large pics for comparission.
Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going to start working on it in a couple hours. I'll surely be posting some questions if I run into any problems! Thanks again!
On a side note, I spent last night dropping in a Vortex. It was definitely some effort cutting that @*&#ing shroud, but DAMN! What a difference!!
My stock air filter was pretty dirty, but I can't believe how much more power the car has. It literally feels like a whole different car! If don't have it, GET IT!!!
I finished the back, but how did you guys tighten those front bolts?
I'm in the process and having nothing but trouble! They won't even budge with a wrench and I can't get a rachet in there because the sensor is in the way..
I would take the front wheels off and jack up the front end and set it on jack stands.
Once stable I would spray some wd40 on the bolt that adjusts the leaf spring. I would also use a block of wood with a hydraulic jack to gently take the pressure off of the leaf spring.
Once at this point use a long box wrench to turn the nut. A drop light or flashlight may be a good idea so you can see what you are doing. Turn the bolts until you see the spring tighten up against the bushing and you cannot turn any more.
At that point you are lowered the max. To lower further you would have to cut the bushings or buy and install longer bolts, a real b$$tch I hear.
Good Luck. If you want you can email me your phone number and I could talk with you by phone, chucschram@aol.com
I bought the bolts as something advertised as a lowering kit, LOL. Once I had them I installed them rater than send back. At this point they give me some flexability and security that i am not sitting at the end of my bolts with one or two threads showing.
Your car may indeed be lower than mine as I raised my car after initial lowering to gain what i feel is an acceptable stance and to correct the unacceptable feeling of carrying a load of bricks in the back.
It is hard to see things for black cars on the web as their shine seems to distort all of the detail one would like to see.
I actually just got back out there and muscled it with this little tiny
wrench until they were all the way tightened. Was a major pain the a$$, but
it got the job done and the car looks sweet
