Not sure if the advantages of LS6 is worth that work. You can easily get new heads and cams on your LS1 and get more power. If you are going to do a swap, go with LS2 based 402. My friend has one, and it makes tons of power and torque for very little money. Very good deal especially since it is forged. THat's what I would do. Just my opinion.

Lewis
the 402 ls2 seems to be the popular route to go lately .. cheap, reliable, and torquey ..
but i will ask again, why the interest in the swap?
Depening on the year of your LS1 no it is not worth it.
from 2003 on the only differnece between the Ls1 and LS6 were the heads , cam and the tunning. Other wise they were the same.
now for the money you would spend on the LS6, some AFR 205 heads and one of LG G2x cams, headers, CAI and a damn good dyno tune. Up in the 450 -460 rwhp range.
I would do that over the LS2 engine too.
I run a LS1 coupe and have no problems with Z06s and drivers of symular skill as I. Of course I have a few mods too
Whats a good place to purchase the AFR205 heads and cam?
call LG they are a site sponser. their cams perform extremely well with the AFR heads prepped to their specs. make sure you have all the supporting mods and i sure you with a good tune your car will be an animal. good luck.

There is an advantage to a new LS6 or LS2 crate motor. Warranty. I think GM gives you two years on a crate motor. You usually won't get that with a head and cam job. Although you can make considerably more power with a head/cam job on an LS1.
