Does anyone run a G5 x4 cam for roadrace only cars and is there much of a low end torque loss.I have a 2003 Z06 and want a good race package with either 205 AFR or 215 Etp heads. What are your thoughts and what rwhp can I expect also with LG longtubes and no cats. Thanks

Evey one has different opnions. Dont let the drag race guys influance you.
the G5X4 may be way too much for road racing but the G5X2 cam or the GMPP Grand am cam
I am interested to see as well. I am going with a G5X3 and was told by Lou that it is absolute great for road race. I asked about the X4 and was told that it makes more power, but street drivability is just not there. But if your looking at race only, I say go for it! I am told the X3 makes more power/torque everywhere in the rpm range compared to stock, but just makes a lot more power around 3300 and up. I don't know from personal experience, but with this information, I would assume an X3 would potentially come on a few hundred rpm later (maybe 3800). From the numerous dyno sheets I have seen, the X3 makes peak power up to around 7000 rpm. The X4 probably goes even higher, but how high do you want to go, and I would imagine you could have lots of issues with springs. You probably would have to replace springs at least once a year. Again, this is not from personal experience, but I have spent the last 2 months intensively researching the G5X cams
what good is a cam that makes peek power at 7k, isnt the c5 done at 6500??? that is about as beneficial as someone who flows a head at 380cfm at 650 lift and you run a 580 lift cam.....who cares what the peak is if you dont benefit from it.
I run the G5X3 cam with AFR205 heads, and they performed really well on the track- was able to hit 150mph in the back striaght at VIR with 430rwhp/392rwtq
I just got finished building a 383 stroker motor, so the cam is even more streetable and the tq gain is awesome- I'm lookin foward to getting back on track with the new motor
I have the Futral F13 cam in my 383 stroker that is mentioned in the LS1tech link that AU N AGL provided above for the primary purpose of road racing (HPDE/TT) events. This cam appears to be one of the best performing cams for road racing (not drag racing) based on my research on LS1tech. 230"/232" .595"/.585" 114LSA - aggressive profile with a 2500-6800 RPM range. However, the TSP-233 233/239 595/603 113 sure sounds interesting! Anyone running this cam that can post their dyno graph?

already do 151 on VIR back straight 4th gear at 6700 RPMs, 140 on front straight and go up the esses at 117-120 mph. I do laps in the 2:11 -2:13 range when I am on game. When I instruct at VIR I dont go any were that fast up the esses. Dont want to scare the students.
