Default Keyless entry remote problem.

My keyless entry decided to stop working. Synching, and learning from the DIC does nothing. Ive tried battery replacement, and cleaning the contacts in the remote. Nothing. Gone through the service manual and got to the point where it wants me to test with a known good remote. Problem is, I dont have one.

So the question is, can I use the newer flat style remotes with the older c5's? I have a 1999 FRC, and not only are the newer ones smaller, they are about half the price.

Or is it likely the reciever thats dead? This was in intermittant problem for awhile before it completely died.

NO, you can not use the newer remotes.

Have you tried pushing both the lock and unlock buttons for 7 seconds until the horn honks?

You could borrow someone's else's remote and try synching that to your car. That would show what is the problem, remote or car.

The receiver is for both the tire pressure sensors and the fob, not sure if just one can stop working?

Tire pressure too, eh? The sensors are in my summer tires. maybe I can put them on and go for a quick ride to see if they work.

Got a new fob. Works beautifully now.

Side note- 2000 fobs work fine on the 99. Just no passive function (which I hated anyways)

It sounds like the receiver box, located in the rear of the trunk area
