Default Wheel Offset question(s)

To put it short, I am having a really hard time buying wheels for my C5.
Mainly because I don't know enough about offsets and don't want to do the wrong thing.
What is the Offset of C5 OEM 5 spoke wheels and OEM Z06 wheels?

17x8.5 = ?? Offset
18x9.5 = ?? Offset
17x9.5 = ?? Offset
18x10.5 = ?? Offset

I am thinking of putting 18x9.5 wheels on the front of my C5 and the offset that the repro manufacturer advertises is +65

This concerns me since I know so little about offsets.
Can someone help me with this?
Would I run into a problem with the 18x9.5 +65 wheel on the front?
Are my OEM 18.9.5's the same +65 offset?
If they are, I can at least try them up front to see how they fit, BUT I don't know the offset of my OEM wheels.

Can anyone explain the Offset numbers to me?

I have really found myself scratching my head trying to buy wheels for this car.

I'd really appreciate any help you guys can lend me here.
Thanks
Glenn

I'm in the process of bying some wheels myself,but if you go for OEM or replica's the offset will be OK.
A link where you can find some offset and width...

Search for corvette(obviously )and motorsport.

Thanks Erik, BUT my big concern is the 18x9.5 wheel is designed for the REAR of the C5 and I want to put it up front.......

Glenn, offset is the distance from the mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel.
C5 fronts, 17x8.5 are 56mm
C5 rears, 18x9.5 are 65mm.

ZO6 fronts, 17x9.5 are 56mm
ZO6 rears, 18x10.5 are 58mm

The rears will be further inboard about 9mm or 3/8 of an inch when mounted on the front. This shouldn't be a problem. There are some manufacturers out there that sell 18x9.5s with a 58mm offset

You can try your rears upfront, just ignore the warnings you may get.

Thanks Vince
Good info. I am going to try my rears on the front, even though they have bigger tires than I will use, I will get a good idea.

Appreciate your reply.

The offset of a wheel is what locates the tire and wheel assembly in relation to the suspension. More specifically, it is the measured distance between the hub mounting surface and the center line of the rim. Below is an explanation of the various types of offsets which are pictured in the above graphic.

Positive Offset
A positive offset occurs when the hub mounting surface is on the street side (the side you see) of the center line of the rim. Most factory rims will have this type of offset.

Zero Offset
When the hub mounting surface is centered within the rim, it is known as a zero offset.

Negative Offset
If the hub mounting surface is on the brake side of the center line of the rim, it is considered a negative offset or “deep dish”.

I have run the rear 18 x 9.5 Magnesiums on the front w/o issue.......with a 275/40/18 on it!
Some more info......the offset is different to keep front/rear tires from extending past the top of the fender & 1/4 panel per European regs.

OEM offset is at least +58 mm

I'm running 65 mm offset 18 x 9.5 on the front with 265 tires - 2 years without a problem. Hope that answers your original question.

That does, thank you!

I have gotten some great replies here to this post.

Thanks to all.

I am planning on 18x9.5 with +65 offset for the front with 265/35 tires so your info was very helpful.

Appreciate it.
