Default HallTech Stinger part question

I have a newbie question to float around the site here if you all don’t particularly mind. I bought a Arctic white 97 coupe back in late November and I have been more than pleased with it so far the “mod bug” started to hit me the more I started visiting this site.....Imagine that. I even ordered from a vender here a hall tech stinger intake and a BB cat-back.

I spent this morning putting on the stinger intake they sent and everything went smooth until I tried to close the hood no matter how I adjust the air-bridge the hood will not close. Here is the kicker like I said I have a 97, the air-bridge they sent is red I have yet to see any stinger pictures with red air-bridges from 97-00. Am I wrong? I sent the vendor an email asking if these were the right parts and they said they were....I mean I am not a GM certified mechanic but I have worked with tools all my life. I just feel like I am trying to beat a square peg in a round hole here.
I should have just put the exhaust on this morning But noooo....

Any advice or help from you folks would be much appreciated because I really do not wish to put that factory junk back on.

Thanks again Marcus.

( P.S. I have read all the sticky’s and downloaded illustrated instructions from the Mf.)

Are you SURE the airbridge is attached properly? I ask because my airbridge touches the hoodliner, but it does not bow the hood itself. DAVE68 did a write-up on this while back so search the archives. He actually detailed how to ensure the airbridge was snugged up properly.

I have a 2000 FRC and mine fits great with the red air bridge. I'm not sure of any suttle differences there might be between a '97 & '00. Did your hood fit and fare prior to installing?

Thanks to both reply’s here. One Mr.Leadfoot, I sure will check the archives for that posting and too the other RdhotC5, Yeah it was smooth close before and maybe I could shave some of the fiber down on the hood to get a close fit but at what cost to the paint? Interesting that you have a smooth fit.
If my new camera would ever arrive I could post some pic’s of my dilemma.

Thanks folks for the help.

Marcus.

Most Stinger installers who have had issues with their hoods have found that adjustment of the couplings solved the problem. Pushing the smooth coupler too far into the TB or the air bridge often causes a too-high airbridge. You might want to take a look at the last photo in my procedure to see if your couplings are mated similarly. The procedure can be found at:
