I am installing a chrome alt. bracket so when i disassembled it,i had to remove the power steering reservoir. Will the power steering system have to be bled? If so how is this done? Thanks Guys
It's pretty difficult to bleed the power steering. You basically have to get in the car, turn it on, and now for the tricky part. Turn the wheel all the way to the right, tap your nose, turn the wheel all the way to the left. Repeat.
BTW, fill the fluid to the cold level which is the middle notch. Start the car, let idle, turn off. Check fluid. If low, add some more. Repeat. When the fluid level stabilizes, then turn the wheel from side to side.
I had looked in the manual and it showed using a pressure bleeder and some long drawn out affair. Im glad its going to be so easy, except for maybe the tapping my nose part, especially if i have had a few beers.

To bleed the system it is recomended to jack up the front of the car so the front tires dont touch the ground. (I never have done this step personally) With the engine off and the ps resovoir lid off turn the wheel left to right until you see the power steering fluid stop bubbling. Then start the car have a friend moniter the level of fluid in the reservoir adding fluid if necessary. At this point it is possible for fluid to come streaming out of the resovoir becuase the system is now at full operating pressure with the engine on. So you may want to place some towels on your "pretty" under hood dress up items if you have any. Then turn the wheel left to right again until it stops bubbling. This realistically should only take you 15 minutes if that.
